While we were staying on Lake Edward, we took a drive and visited Conbeer's Farm. We bought some of their honey and home made Honey Almond Granola. It was really good. That label "homemade" got to me. I have a home. I like to make stuff. So at the risk of completely becoming the embodiment of a cliche, I decided to make granola.
There are 209,000 search results for "homemade granola." Fortunately, Alton Brown's was close to the top. The Farmer loves Alton Brown. We did our best to follow the recipe with the ingredient s we had. I was going to get adventurous but the Farmer kept quoting Colette form Ratatouille: "Follow the recipe."
We ended up using:
3cups oatmeal
2 cups sliced almonds
3/4 cup coconut
1/3 cup brown sugar
Mix them all together in a big bowl.
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup oil
Mix these together and then add to the big bowl. Mix some more.
Bake at 250 for 75 min, turning every 15-20 min. Add in 1 cup of dried cranberries. Cool and store in an airtight container.
I need to go hug a tree now.
